I’m Kate and I live in South Canterbury, New Zealand. I’ve been making my living from code for 17 years now. From Java desktop apps to React component libraries to CRM integrations with PHP and Symfony, I’ve worked with a lot of different tech over the years – and I’m still learning. Some of my past work has involved:
- TypeScript/JavaScript – nodejs with NestJS, React, older front-end frameworks (backbone, Angular).
- AWS – especially lambda, DynamoDB, API gateway, SQS.
- Mobile – iOS app development with Flutter.
- PHP – Symfony, Laravel, Slim, SilverStripe, a few other frameworks, a little bit of WordPress and a whole lot of raw coding back in the day.
- Java – both desktop (Swing, concurrency, image manipulation, printing) and enterprise (WebSphere, Tomcat, Spring, JMS).
- A little bit of Ruby on Rails and Perl. I’ve experimented with Python on side projects too.
- mysql, MongoDB, Ubuntu, Apache, nginx
- In the more distant past SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, Microsoft Access
I am currently open to new fully remote opportunities, either salaried or contract. I have a particular soft spot for back end dev (API integrations, gnarly DB stuff etc), and I like working on smaller teams (1-10 engineers) where the work is varied.
